Stewardship

At Redwheel, Stewardship is our overarching approach to responsible investing, bringing together Sustainability, Active Ownership and Greenwheel Research & Insights into a single, disciplined framework. Through this framework we integrate material sustainability considerations into investment decisions, support investment teams with central expertise, and use focused engagement, proxy voting and thematic research to protect and enhance long-term client outcomes.

Active Ownership

We use active ownership to protect and enhance long‑term client outcomes, combining focused company engagement with disciplined use of voting rights. Our investment teams lead these dialogues, supported by a central Stewardship function that brings structure, challenge and consistency to our role as responsible stewards of capital.

This section explains how we engage, where we focus our efforts and how we report on outcomes with clarity and discipline.

Our approach to stewardship and active ownership

We use active ownership to protect and enhance long‑term value for our clients, combining company focused engagement with disciplined use of proxy voting rights across our strategies. Our investment teams lead day‑to‑day engagements, supported by a central Stewardship function that brings structure and challenge, ensuring consistency with our firm‑wide policies and standards.

Central Stewardship team

Our Stewardship function supports and oversees engagement and voting activity across Redwheel’s investment teams. It coordinates our involvement in thematic and collaborative initiatives, ensures our overarching approach remains aligned with evolving regulation, market practice and client expectations when establishing priorities.

Investment team-led engagement

Each investment team leads engagement with investee companies. The specific issues on which teams engage reflect a variety of factors including their underlying investment philosophy, their investment process, the specifics of the mandate, and their assessment of the extent to which there are financially risks being managed by the target company. Clear objectives and documented dialogue ensure that engagement provides an effective input to ongoing investment research.

Use of voting rights

Exercising voting rights is a key part of our stewardship approach to support and encourage the adoption of strong governance approaches, disciplined capital allocation and sustainable business practices. Voting is considered carefully, informed by our investment convictions and stewardship principles, and forms an important part of how we act as long‑term stewards of our clients’ capital.

Thematic and collaborative engagement

We pursue sustainability thematic engagement on issues that can have a meaningful bearing on long‑term outcomes, including climate, the environment and human rights. Where it supports client interests, we work with other investors and industry bodies to strengthen our voice and help advance higher standards across markets.

Transparency and collaborative engagement

We report on our engagement and voting activity through regular stewardship disclosures, including case studies and outcomes. This transparency helps clients understand how our stewardship activity supports disciplined decision-making, accountability and long‑term value creation.
