Emerging & Frontier Markets
We identify compelling growth opportunities across emerging, frontier and international markets, focusing on companies benefiting from structural change and global expansion.
Using a high-conviction, index-agnostic approach, we combine macro insight with fundamental research to build differentiated portfolios of growth at a reasonable price.
Emerging & Frontier Markets
Emerging and frontier markets represent many of the fastest‑growing and most structurally attractive economies in the world. The team believes their continued development offers compelling opportunities across a wide range of industries, particularly in countries benefiting from favourable demographics, economic reform and integration into global supply chains. The team’s index‑agnostic, opportunistic approach has been honed over more than two decades across more than 100 markets, and targets idiosyncratic growth stories that are off the beaten track for most investors.
International Markets
International Markets represent an often overlooked investment universe with companies that are frequently exposed to the same structural growth drivers the Team has identified across Emerging Markets. Many leading international companies are also generating superior sales growth from, or expanding their operational footprint into Emerging Markets. The Team applies the same investment process to uncover the strongest growth opportunities across International Markets, leading to a high-conviction portfolio of growth-at-a-reasonable-price opportunities that is predominantly invested in markets outside the US and includes a measured allocation to Emerging Markets.
High conviction approach
This high‑conviction philosophy results in concentrated portfolios built from differentiated stock‑specific positions, targeting attractively valued growth opportunities while maintaining diversified country, sector and thematic risk. In doing so, return profiles tend to be less correlated with mainstream equity indices.
Investment Process
The team combines top‑down macro and thematic insights with bottom‑up, GARP (growth at a reasonable price) stock selection to identify idiosyncratic growth opportunities. A macro framework guides country and risk assessment – with particular focus on growth, inflation, currency, interest rates and liquidity – highlighting markets where structural drivers are strongest. Fundamental research is anchored in long‑term investment themes such as financial inclusion, urbanisation and the energy transition. The team places strong emphasis on regular in‑person company meetings, with dedicated sustainability analysts embedding ESG considerations into each investment case, and maintains a strategic advisory relationship with geopolitical risk consultants Rice, Hadley, Gates & Manuel LLC.
