Infrastructure, Natural Capital and Transition

At Redwheel, we manage a range of global equity thematic strategies focused on infrastructure and environmental assets that underpin and sustain the global economy. Our approach combines investment in essential infrastructure and the energy transition with opportunities in natural capital, aiming to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns while addressing critical environmental challenges. These include decarbonising energy systems, enabling electrification, and supporting the preservation and resilience of natural ecosystems.

Infrastructure and Transition

Listed Infrastructure

Structural shifts driven by regulation, technological innovation, and the global energy transition are creating long-term growth opportunities across infrastructure sectors. Our listed infrastructure strategy invests in publicly traded companies across developed and emerging markets that provide essential services and assets supporting economic activity and societal development.

The opportunity set spans electric and gas utilities, transportation infrastructure and environmental services positioned to benefit from rising electricity demand, decarbonisation, and electrification trends.

Next Generation Power Infrastructure

Next Generation Power infrastructure focuses on listed owners and operators of low‑carbon power generation and electricity grids worldwide. It targets decarbonisation leaders and ancillary infrastructure that enable the energy transition, aiming to capture long-term growth from themes such as electrification, rising datacentre power demand and US onshoring.

Concentrated Global Transition

Built around the core themes shaping the global energy transition as regions face accelerating demand for power and increasing urgency for energy security. This strategy looks to invest in companies across multiple sectors leading the move into electrification, AI infrastructure, clean transportation, industrial and building efficiency, and the circular economy. It takes a rigorous approach to stock selection, with an emphasis on fundamentals, valuation discipline and exposure to themes with strong long-term demand.

Natural Capital

Natural capital – our investment approach

Our Natural Capital strategy seeks to deliver long-term capital growth by investing in global companies that contribute to the preservation and restoration of the planet’s natural resources. As ecosystems come under increasing pressure from pollution and resource depletion, despite remaining fundamental to economic and societal stability, we see a compelling opportunity in nature-positive solutions.

The strategy primarily invests in businesses that support environmental resilience while offering attractive return potential, building a diversified, multi-cap portfolio positioned to benefit from increasing support from regulators, governments and consumers for natural capital preservation.

Amanda O’Toole leads the Natural Capital strategy and collaborates closely with the Ecofin team on research coverage.
